About
Prior to her career in reporting and photography, Olivia Emmer worked in environmental science education. Emmer’s work is driven by curiosity and a passion for learning. She is particularly interested in water, land use management, climate, energy and agriculture.
Emmer is fortunate to live in a small town with a non-profit newspaper eager to train new reporters. She began her journalism career in 2020 covering local news. She remains dedicated to her home beat while also expanding her horizons around the state.
Emmer has a degree in Neuroscience from Brandeis University. Her curiosity has taken her from botanical research in Northern California, to public horticulture in Chicago, to documenting artisans in western North Carolina. She lives in Carbondale, Colorado with her husband and daughter.
